Abstract

Acacia crassicarpa is one of the leading plants that is widely used as raw material in the paper industry because it has good fiber quality. The increasing productivity of A. crassicarpa needs to be supported by high-quality seeds in order to produce the best and most productive seedlings. To achieve this success, it is necessary to optimize the germination test method that can ensure germination power effectively. This study aims to determine the effect of germination test methods on the viability of A. crassicarpa seeds. The research method used was an experimental method with an experimental design in the form of a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD), namely the germination test method. This study included three treatments, namely the test on paper (UDK), the test of paper rolled in plastic (UKDdp), and the test between paper (UAK). Based on the results, the germination test method had a significant effect on the viability of A. crassicarpa seeds. The best method for seed germination is the test method on paper (UDK), with germination reaching 95.40%. This method is more effective than other methods in supporting successful germination A. crassicarpa.
